Style inspiration for our new space!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Though the shop & studio are a dizzying display of boxes and installation crap, oh, everywhere, our eyes are on the prize. Here’s some of the inspiration behind the new space’s concept, which is currently in production. One day, very soon, we’ll unveil. Just a reminder to everyone, our new address is just across the street at 1818 (in the space where our friends Painted Lady used to be – we’ve pulled a Trading Spaces style move).

Regular business hours will resume May 19th.

Catch you on the filp! Keep popping back in for more details as they evolve!

Let’s get a little racy this year!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

This is definitely not your granny’s wrapping paper, but that’s why we love it! Perfect for when you need a laugh or a little sass, this fluorescent paper will make your gifts especially interesting this year. Illustrated & silkscreened by Mark McGinnis, the very same artist behind our famed naughty Alphabet posters. Sold in a set of 4 for $18, better get your mitts on these quick because nothing this funny sticks around our shop for long.

Dogs Art Camp Post 27 (1)

Dogs Art Camp Post 27 (2)

Dogs Art Camp Post 27 (3)

In fairness this is pretty random, but since *I* couldn’t be at this year’s Art Camp, I figured I could sneak in a post on our beloved pooches just for fun. I mean, come on, so cute. These beautiful shots are by art-camper and photographer Shane Riedel.

Janet Ecklebarger Studio Visit

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

With a little weekend get away inspiration is sure to follow. This particular dispatch comes in the form of a studio tour of our friend & vendor, jewelry designer & collector Janet Ecklebarger. Located in rural Indiana, we lost ourselves in the details of her space, all delicate nostalgia with modern and industrial touches. Check our selection of Janet’s jewelry here.

(PS – See you tonight at the Guerilla Truck Show, right?)

Lapel Commercial + Backroom Sale

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Since we’ve been in party-planning mode, we’ve neglected to mention Lapel, Angela’s credenza collaboration with those cutie-pie Stone Blitzer boys. The Color Story Credenza is the first piece in the line, soon to be joined by a nightstand and other custom lovelies. And thus this little commercial shot & directed by Erik Vaughan Law.

And of course, the requisite outtake reel, always a laugh:

C’mon in and check out Lapel! But, if you need a bit more convincing, how’s this for a reason to come in: BACKROOM SALE! Last minute, this weekend only! Deals abound. Sale! Saaaaaale. You know it beckons.

a little getaway

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

was much needed.

So I packed my trunk and my dog for a little get away to Wandawega (a very dear place to me – see Art Camp post).  I went alone, which was my first time there solo, I built a raging fire, made collages, ate Door County pickles, and came home a day early because I needed human interaction. I truly enjoyed my time while I was there, and saw a familiar place through a new eye, by taking abstracted close ups of the many beautiful details that exist there.

I was stopped in my tracks

On my way to an appointment and I wanted to stop and hug this thing – perfection if I must say, I instantly pictured myself driving this on lake shore drive with my new Persol sunglasses on…. so dreamy.

death, drugs and hot dogs

Jack makes a Cameo

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

We’ve incorporated a new system for shooting new products recently. Instead of doing everything behind-the-scenes we’ve got a corner of the store which we’ve been converting to a mini photo studio once a week. It’s all about efficiency really; our space becomes a workshop as well as a store. Customers have been surprisingly receptive to it which is an unintended bonus for us both! Jack, Angela’s German Shepard/terrier/mutt, doesn’t seem to mind either, though he’s never far from the action.

Unison Home Photoshoot

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Today saw our store transformed into hard-core photography studio with our pals Unison Home, who were shooting new product for their holiday catalog. To die-for pillows and my personal favorite, a new line of chambray bedding, will be available in store shortly so stay tuned!
