oh contrast – you are a magnificent thing!
I do strongly love color, but I am also weak in the knees for a space that plays with contrast and texture. My love for the living room “pit” is still strong – modular sofas are a must. Here the shape and size of the sofa is very elegant, clean and welcoming, due to the textures that surround it. The rug, the paneled walls, the artwork and stacks of books and fresh flowers. Yes please – this room is classic hot – and I want to be listening to Donna Summer, sipping some rose, and hanging out there right now.

mirrors, sunken living room, chrome, and shag… um yes.
There is nothing better than a well designed sunken living room “pit”. Even better when placed under a huge window with a view. This space works wonderfully due to the cohesive and neutral overall color palette with pops of color in pillows and accessories. And don’t forget the texture and mix of materials used together. Brilliant Space.

we love our design clients – especially when they commission us for custom work
This project has been a dream project. Thanks to Jennifer for hiring us to polish off her clean and crisp space. The main focus of her one bedroom apartment is the view – which is one of a kind because the Trump Tower sits on a slight angle. The city becomes a subdued pattern with soothing shades of colors in contrast to the white architectural space. Inspired by the view I melded two things I love (piano player rolls and tape) to create large panels for the bedroom.I was thrilled to have the opportunity to do what I love most, designing furniture. Jennifer’s bedroom needed a small and detailed nightstand – the scale of this little piece gives it such character and dignity. More to come – round two of installations happening next week – “ghostly white” painted vintage luggage become functional sculpture.

I surprised myself by picking more neutral objects this time, with the exception of the green Danish Low back chair. That one’s certainly no shocker seeing as my living room is already dressed up in various hues of green, and that chair is exactly what I’m looking for to upgrade to my existing side chairs. I’m secretly hoping no one buys it before I’m able to save up the cash-ola and it’s all mine, mine, mine.
Otherwise, I’m a sucker for ceramic anything, like the Bruce Bowl, and those Shades of Grey earrings go with both everyday and special occasion outfits. And I’m sorely in need of better lighting in my new office, thus the drafting lamp. Its masculine lines are a good offset to my pinky-red swooshy Saarinen desk chair. For even more fun office times, that quirky order book. I see to-do lists a-plenty filling its vintage pages.

I was stopped in my tracks
On my way to an appointment and I wanted to stop and hug this thing – perfection if I must say, I instantly pictured myself driving this on lake shore drive with my new Persol sunglasses on…. so dreamy.
