deliciousness in color

In waiting for spring, colors are quickly popping up in nature, and my inspiration is revving up for the season.  The top image of trays from the 1960′s completes my passion for graphics, color, and one of the most useful objects for decorating.  I am going to be on a mission to find and make trays for the store – thinking of a little collaboration with my talented friends may need be in the mix. Not to leave out my love for stones and gems – this 1940′s illustration is worth oggling over. Enjoy.

blue / parquet floor / kick ass shelving

And there you go – a gorgeous space. Drool.  And my favorite – mixing styles – how about those chairs against that blue wall?

A super huge thank you to Refinery 29, Heather Talbert and Evelyn of Axis of Evelyn.

We are thrilled that Refinery 29 now has a Chicago section – high fives for Chicago – such a great city that is making it’s mark slowly but surely on the fashion and design map. I am also thrilled and happy about my new love for fashion – thanks to Evelyn, of Axis of Evelyn who jump started me and made me realize that I love  heels and being a bit girlie. Make sure to check out her amazing collection of vintage wares at our shop, and even better, she graces our clients with her savvy presence every Saturday. (She will style you for free on Saturdays at Post 27!)

Check out the full story here – in the my style section of Refinery 29.

And wow, how lucky was I to be shot by my favorite fashion photographer ever, Heather Talbert.

open and airy

If we were all so lucky to have such architectural extravagance…. But there is always inspiration to be taken from such spaces.  First to note is the simplistic nature of the furnishings chosen – purposely for their shapes and proportions.  My advice is to take your time purchasing items to ensure that they make visual and functional sense, build your collections and spend your money on incredible lighting. Any space can be transformed by the lighting alone.

hot damn. the thonet chair is the sexiest.

A wonderful space with the perfect backdrop – of greenery (which I am longing for these days) White walls offset the collage of chairs and an amazing light fixture. Oh the memories of being dressed to match your siblings.

dreams of twine.

We have a lot of inspirations that we try to surround ourselves with here at Post 27. Recently we picked up this bundle of different twines and we are excited to find a good use for them. Just as we did with our tape we will be using this twine soon, to create something stunning!

an ode to upcoming spring

I am truly inspired by using materials in unconventional ways and  making beautiful things out of inexpensive raw materials. I found a fantastic website with plenty of options of sizes and colors findtape.com, where I bought way more than I needed (I happily have a case of gray tape left). I did a little research to see what others have done with the sticky stuff, and happily fell upon one of my new crushes- Claudia Caviezel. Next, tape used to create textural wall patterns … soon to come.

springy colors please.

One of my faves – Villa Planchart, is used today as inspiration for many reasons, but the most important is color. Spring is peaking around the corner and bright colors are re-emerging in nature, thank goodness. Crisp and clean, pops of colors, and freshness = deliciousness.
