Outpost Outfitted: Simply Silver & Cream

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

When I saw this vintage sweater from Axis of Evelyn, I knew it had to be featured. Incidentally, the same thing happened when I laid eyes on this glorious silver dress from frei designs.  Pleating details, meet cozy textures. Glorious cream color, meet crazy versatile sash belt. Imagine that belt wrapped around the sweater?! It’s like the frosting to the vintage fabric cupcake.   A delicious mix of cool-toned old and new from the Post 27 fashion ladies.

Axis of Evelyn Nool Boude Cream Sweater – $160

frei Vintage Dress  - $300

50′s Floral  Bag – $60

70′s Handmade Necklace – $90

Stop by the shop to say hi and try on the frei collection, Axis of Evelyn selections, and more this weekend at Design Harvest!

Design Harvest vendor loves.

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Only four more days until Design Harvest starts! And even though the store is in complete disarray today (we’re loading in SO much delicious brand-new furniture which means complete re-styling) I can’t but help but nerd out all the awesome talent that’s participating in the festivities. Like Dock 6, a collective of furniture designers, makers & fabricators. Um, hot DAMN their work is stellar. Clean modern lines with subtle nods to Dutch design plus cheeky, surprising details. Nicely done, fellas.

Other makers who are coming into set-up shop include Strand Design, Morlen Sinoway, Verde Design Studio, Unison Home, New Breed Furniture, and Nate Berkus Associates. Check the Design Harvest site for the full line-up, including all the food trucks too.

Are you ready?! We are! Well, we WILL be anyway, in only a few more days…

loft living- and working

Once again organized chaos has caught my eye.  I battle with all the little found objects that I collect and how to have a clean and concise space. Here there are islands of objects, surrounded by simplicity. Much thought was put into the heights of objects in the space- from the flat file to the desktop to the height of the shelving unit, to the collection of twigs- If I must say it’s pretty perfect. I want to put myself right into that red chair with a Sunday New York Times and a big cup of coffee.

Outpost Outfitted: Pendleton Portland

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

Two parts frei plus one part brand-spankin-new Pendleton Portland Collection, 2 shakes of vintage, and a splash of local jewelry designers equals too much to choose from for just one look! Oh yes, the Pendleton Portland Collection is here and it is gorgeous. That wool shift on the left is just the beginning:  there’s wool blazers with removable shearling collars, unisex sweaters, cozy wool pants, jacquard skirts, and more. Pendleton Woolen Mills, a century-old company in the Pacific Northwest that began by making blankets for Native Americans, has teamed up with Portland designers to create the Portland Collection.  The pieces were inspired by the Pendleton archives of prints and fabrics, and are all made in the USA. Vintage aesthetic with a modern touch? The line feels right at home in Post 27.  We couldn’t resist bringing you another version of frei’s Circle Skirt and Square Tank that we showed you here, which is now engulfed in the silk tencel of the Super Nomad Wrap (on right.) We currently have only one left in the shop!

On Left:

Pendleton Portland Collection Black Jacquard Shift Dress – $295

Wood Bead Necklace – $50

Vintage Leather Belt – $40

Cities in Dust Dagger Cuffs – $60/each

Vintage Purple Leather Bag – $45

Design Harvest 2011 is just days away!

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Reluctant as ever to let summer go, the promise of Design Harvest totally makes up for the shorter, crisper days. And it’s almost here! In just two weeks, October 1st and 2nd, we are taking over Grand Ave with a home-hoedown. Visit our giant block-long tent full of over 40 antique & vintage dealers, and loads of modern handmade furniture-makers. Grab yourself a mug of cider (or even something stronger if you like) and peruse the wares. Have a hay ride, pick up a pumpkin at Grand Street Gardens, and let The Hideout’s musical stylings fill your ears with classic bluegrass, folk, and blues tunes. Fall, we love you.

Up next: we’ll spotlight some of this year’s hot-hot-hot vendors.

insert dinner party here please

Loving the “everything has it’s place” look here- and the modular yet cozy feeling this room holds.  Usually I am not a big fan of large stripes on large pieces of furniture but it works here for sure.  Sleek, compartmentalized, crisp, and sexy – the perfect date-able room.

bold and unexpected

Nothing like a little yellow to cheer you up – loving the mix of colors, patterns and styles.  And oddly enough I am fond of the furniture layout with angles…. hmmm pink and angles, must be a season of change.
