oh jaques tati.

The most visual inspiration that has ever entered my periphery is Mon Oncle, by my favorite director Jacques Tati.  The color, the architecture, the sounds, the outfits, the furniture, oh I could go on and on and on. A must watch while you’re  nestled in this holiday season.  Another favorite, is Trafic. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

oh cozy corner room

Low slung seating and monochromatic texture = I want to be hanging out here right now – a little brenton woods on the turntable and a glass of champagne please, and don’t forget a huge stack of new design magazines too.  One of my favorite elements of this space is the low and continuous shelving that perfectly divides the space and creates tons of usable table top space  so that the room can stay minimal and focused on comfort.

Re-Classified Recap!

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

This was one of those events that absolutely flew flawlessly together at the last second, much to my shock and awe. Me, Veronica, and Angela were all on our best game which surprised all of us a little bit I think. Clipboards, vintage office supplies, sexy staplers, pumpkin-orange steelcase furniture… yum yum yum. Veronica’s office-themed prints rounded out the show, inspired by her grandfather’s mid-century accounting business. And in another first, we actually sold more than half of our products opening night! Not too shabby! I’m still basking in it, pleased to close 2011 on a high note.

{More process & behind the scenes coming soon to my blog as well! Eyes peeled!}

letting the natural patinas be the finishes

What most Americans are afraid of is the imperfect, and more often than not you will see patinas and aging recreated (cringe).  I love the real deal – this space is so amazing, the timber ceiling, brick wall and concrete floor has not been touched. I often wonder while in a space that is older -what does that  floor look like under the carpet? What is behind that old wallpaper – more layers of old wallpaper?  True natural patina mixed with modern furnishings and graphic art = so super hot.

The AKMD Collection

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

These delightful tables and & accessories are from new local duo, AKMD. Combining the timelessness of Asian and Indian style in a fresh modern way makes these especially memorable. Combine that with craft and you’ve got that trifecta that slays me every dang time. Better in person of course, but make sure you peak at AKMD’s site for their full product line up.
